Last week just plain sucked except for one day. The transmission on the wife’s minivan is toast and that’s about 1200 or better to replace so it’s not even on the radar. Ren Faire with the family rocked (pictures to follow). Was in bed sick on Wednesday. Worked for 11.5 hours on Thursday most of which were downloading, installing, and configuring Karmic Koala since I broke my workstation (always check to make sure you still connected to your virtual machine before screwing around with the kernel and sudo su – is not always a good idea to begin with). Whatever had me puking on Wednesday came back for seconds and kicked my ass putting me in bed for over thirty-six hours of gastronomic Apocalypse along with the kids being sick as well as Momma. Saturday I thought I was better and went out and did stuff for about three hours only to have a fever again upon arrival back at the hacienda. Sunday was spent trying to carve some order into the Lord of the Flies regime that had taken over during the illness then lo and behold it was Monday morning.
So there you have it. Not one damn post last week due to all of that. Not on here or on 9b. So I am officially behind and now owe some reviews to 9b. I am going to change the Monday Mix into the Monthly Mix because it’s hard to be inspired every damn week to make a mix tape but I still plan to hit the other two entries as often as I can.
Did I mention that boy number three “shot” the TV with a water gun ring this morning resulting in a vertical line down the screen and fuzziness? Hopefully it dries out and is fine if not then the kids will have to learn to use their imaginations and do so quickly because I ain’t replacing it anytime soon. At least not in a way they will get to use it. If I do replace it the cost will be split up betwixt them and they will work it off together for the replacement cost plus tax as well as a fee for my trouble and do it at minimum wage. Let’s see the knee biters enjoy earning their TV back.

I wish more parents would make their kids work off some of the damage they incur. It’s a lesson that is easy for them to learn early and very costly for them to learn later on. It certainly helped me understand how costly a DUI would be way before I even was inclined to drink.
Sorry to hear you guys had a bad week and hope you’re all feeling better now.

I blame most of societies ills on parents. While a bit of hyperbole I have a quote I like from a friend of mine: “The decline of Western Civilization began the first time a parent said to a child ‘yes but, how do you feel about it’”. Children grow up these days blaming all of their problems on other people because they watch their parents do the same. If Daddy can’t find a job it’s not because he’s a high school drop-out with three felonies, no, it’s because no-one wants to give him a chance. It makes me sick to be perfectly honest.
