So the storm is gone. One in four people have power. Our fence is trash. I have to work in the morning. We are at home safe and sound. The bombs went off and the things with too many legs have all died and gone to meet their maker. No real commentary tonight. I spent two days cooking every meal for between sixteen and fourteen people. It hasn’t been all fun and games. We were safe and I am grateful. Most of all I am just tired. No cell service at the house and the network is very busy elsewhere. We are under a 2100-0600 curfew in Harris county so no going out tonight. I cannot believe I have to be at work in the morning. I have to wash clothes now. I also don’t have a flight out to NJ yet so I could end up leaving on short notice which I hate doing. Goodnight.

Well Ike did some horrible things to Galveston. It was still less than predicted and being on the west side of things we only lost power momentarily here at the Carter’s Home For Wayward Dogs and Hurricane Shelter. We are all fine. I don’t know about my house yet and it’s probably too early to go look. There is roof damage here but nothing major.

I am about to fire up the stove and hunker down in some corned beef has and eggs. Breakfast for 14 should be loads of fun.

Say a prayer for those whose homes are in the coastal areas and the close to 3,000,000 without power. We are fine. I hope everyone has a great day.

Fragment ideas and too many pronouns

Well we were making calls to let people know we were hunkering down and turning off the cell phone to save the battery and the Carter’s invited us over. We packed up all the water and canned goods (my back is killing me), shot bordedom square in his ugly face, and drove another 15 miles west to their house. The lights are still on here and most everyone is asleep. So there are ten kids, four adults, and the dogs. We may be, , far enough west not to lose power but that remains to be seen. So for now enjoy the music in the previous post, and yes you have to listen to all of it, and I hope all of you people in the Houston area are safe. I will be turning in shortly myself. So good night all. I will update tomorrow, from the phone if I have to, so no worrying about us. We are safe and sound and with friends.

So there’s my soundtrack for Ike runnin’ roughshod over Galveston and low lying areas. We are still to the east of the eye so it’s not looking bad for us. The tension is getting thicker though and I think that the anticipation may well be worse than the storm. So say a quick prayer for those of us, all of us, in the path of this storm. Heck toss in a quick one for the morons who wouldn’t evacuate even in the face of likely death. May they meet their maker in the way they intended.

Some total and complete bastards left pets behind when running from this one. That pisses me off to no end. Poor dogs standing in a foot of water, behind a fence, with the water rising. I would love to kneecap the asshats who did that. They should never be allowed to own another animal as long as they draw breath. God gave us his creation to look after and these people walked away. Let me assure you that our dog is member of the family and would go with us on any evacuation even though it would likely make us less than comfortable due to the size of our family and space in the vehicles. I cannot fathom leaving animals behind to fend for themselves in the face of this much less behind a fence where they can’t even follow their genetic imperative to run from a storm. I hate cats, and I mean with a passion, and I wouldn’t leave on behind to face this. Hell I got mad at the wife for putting our dog outside because her grandma doesn’t like dogs. He’s a member of our family and we don’t treat family like that. He’s not almost family. He is family.
